The 1996 away shirt was worn when Nigeria won the Gold Medal at the Atlanta 1996 Olympics. The shirt has an oversized crest on the centre of the shirt that was worn by the Super Eagles in the successful qualification campaign for the 1998 World Cup. It first made an appearance at the US Cup in 1995, as well as World Cup qualifiers, the LG Cup in 1997 and Carlsberg Cup in 1998.
